Matt Walst, Frontman

Three Days Grace's breakthrough album was their self-titled debut album named ‘Three Days Grace’, which was released in the year 2003. The album was a big commercial success and was number 69 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and number 9 on the Canadian Albums chart. Their album was given many positive reviews by various critics in the music industry, which was good for morale. The album gave us the hit singles like 'I Hate Everything About You', 'Just Like You' and 'Home'. The lead single track ‘I Hate Everything About You’ was even nominated for the Best Rock Video and People’s Choice : Favourite Canadian Group (2004).

Their second album was called One-X, which was released in the year 2006. It, however, became an even bigger hit than their debut album! This album featured the hit singles like 'Animal I Have Become', 'Pain' and 'Never Too Late'. The album was a mega success both critically and monetarily. It hit silver certification in the UK while becoming triple platinum in Canada and the US. This was their most sold albums of all. In terms of ranking on the charts, it hit number 2 on Canadian Albums Chart and number 5 on Billboard 200. The album was received with mixed reviews. Some quoted excellent reviews while others felt it was a generic alt-rock drop. However, it helped them earn Rock Artist Of The Year award in the year 2007 and a Juno Award nomination for Album Of The Year.

Barry Stock, lead guitarist

Three Days Grace continued their success with their third album named Life Starts Now, which was released in the year 2009. This album displayed a softer mood compared to their previous releases. The album spawned the hit singles 'Break, 'Life Starts Now' and 'Last To Know'. In the words of lead guitarist Barry Stock, “This time around we really wanted to go with something different than what we've done in the past”. In the year 2010, they went on a tour titled 'Life Starts Now Tour', in order to promote the album widely. The album went on to hit number 3 on Billboard 200 and number 1 on Billboard Rock Songs chart. Life Starts Now remains their highest charting album to date. This album too received mixed critics from music industry experts. Also, the album was nominated for Best Rock Album in the 2010 Juno Awards. But it won the Favourite New Album award at the same year’s Casby Awards.

With Walst on vocals, Three Days Grace released their fourth album titled 'Transit of Venus' through RCA Records. This album was released in the year 2012 on June 5th. This date was special because it was the day that the transit of Venus across the Sun was visible for us. The album featured the hit singles 'Chalk Outline', 'Misery Loves My Company' and 'The High Road'. The album was a commercial success, which was able to peak at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also got nominated for the Best Rock Album at the 2014 Juno Awards. The album's singles 'The High Road' and 'Chalk Outline' were both mega hits. The whole album was made available to be streamed online in 2012 itself (same year of release). Loudwire gave the song Chalk Outline a 4/5 rating. The song featured Adam Gontier displaying aggressive performance as part of the music video. A lyric video of the song can be found on Three Days Grace’s Vevo account (YouTube).

Brad Walst, Bassist

In the year 2005, Adam had gone into rehabilitation for an addiction to OxyContin problem at the Toronto rehab centre named CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health). Here is where, he had composed many of the songs for One-X album such as 'Pain', 'Animal I Have Become', 'Over And Over' and 'Gone Forever'. A docu-drama on his addiction called Behind the Pain, was released in the year 2007. Adam has been very open with his struggles surrounding mental health. He stated that he had relapsed in the year 2017 and went into a treatment centre. Since then, Adam has been sober and stated that he has "no plans on going back to a dark place anytime soon". In the year 2013, Adam Gontier left Three Days Grace after citing a development of few health issues. He was replaced by Matt Walst, who is the brother of the band’s bassist Brad Walst.

Just like the previous 2 albums, this one also was accepted with mixed reviews. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's singles named 'I Am Machine' and 'Painkiller' were both major hits. This album was nominated for 2015’s Rock Album Of The Year (Loudwire Music Awards).

They went on to release 2 more albums named Outsider in 2018 and Explosions in the year 2022. Outsider was received with mixed reviews while Explosions received positive reviews in the industry. Origin of the band’s name

They, however, disbanded in the year 1995 but regrouped in the year 1997 under its current name Three Days Grace. The name 'Three Days Grace' was inspired by a question that ex-member Adam Gontier had asked himself: "If you had three days to change your life, would you?" The band wanted to create music that would inspire people to make positive changes in their own lives. The band's name points to a sense of urgency with a question being, if someone could change something in their life when they had only three days to make that change.
