Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band formed in Norwood (Ontario, Canada) in the year 1997. The band's current members consist of lead vocalist Matt Walst, lead-guitarist Barry Stock, bassist Brad Walst and drummer Neil Sanderson. The band's original line-up was made of Adam Gontier (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Brad Walst (bassist/backing vocals), Neil Sanderson (drums/keyboards/backing vocals) and Mike Amadio (lead guitar).

Three Days Grace's breakthrough album was their self-titled debut album named ‘Three Days Grace’ which was released in the year 2003. The album was a big commercial success and was number 69 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and number 9 on the Canadian Albums chart. Their album was given many positive reviews by various critics in the music industry which was good for morale. The album gave us the hit singles like 'I Hate Everything About You', 'Just Like You' and 'Home'. The lead single track ‘I Hate Everything About You’ was even nominated for the Best Rock Video and People’s Choice : Favourite Canadian Group (2004).

Three Days Grace continued their success with their third album named Life Starts Now, which was released in the year 2009. This album displayed a softer mood compared to their previous releases. The album spawned the hit singles 'Break', 'Life Starts Now' and 'Last To Know'. In the words of lead guitarist Barry Stock,
“This time around we really wanted to go with something different than what we've done in the past”.

In the year 2005, Adam had gone into rehabilitation for an addiction to OxyContin problem at the Toronto rehab centre named CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health). Here is where, he had composed many of the songs for One-X album such as 'Pain', 'Animal I Have Become', 'Over And Over' and 'Gone Forever'. A docu-drama on his addiction called Behind the Pain, was released in the year 2007. Adam has been very open with his struggles surrounding mental health. He stated that he had relapsed in the year 2017 and went into a treatment centre. Since then, Adam has been sober and stated that he has "no plans on going back to a dark place anytime soon". In the year 2013, Adam Gontier left Three Days Grace after citing a development of few health issues. He was replaced by Matt Walst, who is the brother of the band’s bassist Brad Walst.

The band moved forward and continued to release new music and tour since then. They still remain one of the most popular rock bands in the world today. The band released their 5th album named Human in the year 2015. And of course, again via RCA Records. They went on a Human Tour to promote this latest album back then. Just like the previous 2 albums, this one also was accepted with mixed reviews. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's singles named 'I Am Machine' and 'Painkiller' were both major hits. This album was nominated for 2015’s Rock Album Of The Year (Loudwire Music Awards).

Origin of the band’s name
They were originally named as Groundswell and had grouped in the year 1992. Groundswell played in various local backyard parties and area establishments in Norwood. They, however, disbanded in the year 1995 but regrouped in the year 1997 under it's current name Three Days Grace. The name 'Three Days Grace' was inspired by a question that ex-member Adam Gontier had asked himself -"If you had three days to change your life, would you?"
